DAR Constitution Hall Wedding: Emily + Max

Garden Elegance Meets Summer Night In The City

Emily and Max’s DAR Constitution Hall wedding in Washington DC was incredibly classy and elegant! The architecture added historical and formal elements that gave a unique look to the couple’s summer wedding theme. Check out some of the beautiful architecture in the photos below!

Color Palette

Emily and Max’s wedding color palette was beautifully put together, combining summer aesthetics of pink and green with the classic wedding white and gold. These colors created a charming wedding theme that certainly matches the vibe of their special day!

Blush

This pink pastel hue pairs well with many other colors and instantly gives a classic look to a wedding theme, especially in the summer!

White

The seating chart we created is an example of using white to bring together the colors and florals, creating a minimalistic and elegant wedding aesthetic!

Green

Greenery is great for complimenting florals. When used with other decor details, it is a color that that really pops!

Gold

The classiest of classy, gold is a safe bet in bringing a formal twist to any wedding theme. Emily and Max’s wedding aesthetic includes hints of gold that bring in the historical and classic architecture of the location!

Fine Dining at Emily and Max’s DAR Constitution Hall Wedding

The table setting brought together the color palette to create an elegant dining aesthetic. Subtle pastels, greenery, classic white, and glass details created a dining aesthetic just as elegant as the rest of the wedding! The formal font used for the place cards pulled the entire look together!

Helpful hint: Make sure to discuss with your caterer if meal choices need to be noted on the place cards. We can do this by adding symbols to the bottom corner or printing the place cards with different colors or design elements to represent each meal option.

It's All in the Details

The details are my favorite part of a design because they are small things that can make a big impact and a great way to add a personal touch! Imagine the excitement of getting the mail and seeing a bold envelope color with vintage postage stamps. I know that gets me pumped for whatever is inside that envelope! You go to open it and come across a gorgeous custom wax seal. Upon opening the envelope, your eye is drawn towards a stunning envelope liner pattern that you discover perfectly matches the invitation suite inside. Maybe all of the pieces are in a pocketfold, or held together by a ribbon or bellyband, it’s all of those small details that have come together to make this more than just a simple wedding invitation, but a personalized invite to a special event in your life.

So, when you are ready to begin working on your invitation design, absolutely take the time to focus on the different cards and the look of each, but don’t forget the small details too!

The first step in the wedding invitation process is to narrow down an overall design aesthetic. This can be done by chatting with your stationer, browsing through their gallery, looking at physical samples of their work, and discussing with them the look and theme of your wedding. Once the invitation design comes together to show off your desired look, the details come to play!

Wax Seals:

Sealing wax comes in all different colors and the stamps can be made with any design. It can be a gorgeous floral, a custom monogram, or even your wedding date that we use on the seals! The perfect personalized touch, the wax seal can be used to close your envelope, hold together a ribbon, or just add a bit of color + dimension to your card.

Bellybands:

Whether it is made of paper or a luxurious ribbon, a band wrapped around the invitation will hold all of the cards together. Paper bands can be solid colors or printed with a pattern, or personalized details.

Envelopes:

Envelopes don’t need to be boring! Why not use this as a way to stand out and get your guests excited about your upcoming event. Colored envelopes are an easy way to get your invitation to pop in the mail. Postage stamps are a fun way to add a personal touch, whether it be stamps that match your interests and hobbies, or a location that has a significant impact in your relationship, there are so many really cool postage stamps options out there! Browse through the USPS website or look into vintage stamps through the years to find the perfect addition.

The last envelope step is to get a great envelope liner. This piece makes such a difference in the overall look of your invitations! Sometime a solid color is best, but I am a lover of the bold envelope liner pattern.

We are ready and excited to work with you to put all of these fun details together into the perfect wedding invitation suite design!
